I don’t think it’s impossible for older writers to write things that aren’t totally undercut by authorial bigotry although in those cases that bigotry does need to be dealt with, not ignoredbut in this case Schopenhauer’s bigotry is so scary, complete, and stupid that it is just impossible for me to take him seriously as a philosopher.
