Temperaments may not be “real” exactly, but human personalities do group themselves quite neatly along the lines described in this book. They have a conciliating effect on others and are natural peacemakers.
Western civilisation has benefitted much from its Rocky Cholerics. He oozes self-confidence, is extremely goal-conscious, and can inspire others to envision his goals. Overall, I wasn’t particularly drawn to the concept of the four temperaments, though certainly the book does an adequate job of differentiating each in very accessible language.
This book often contradicts its self IMO another media for astrology. God has given Christians the Holy Spirit, Who is able to improve our natural strengths and overcome our weaknesses — as we co-operate with Him. No temperament has as much natural potential when energised by the Holy Spirit as the Melancholy.

So I actually thought this book was weakest and most stereotypical temperamennt it was describing temperaments–but I loved the end of the book, where LaHaye goes a bit deeper into being filled with the Holy Spirit, overcoming weaknesses regardless of temperament, and sharing testimonies about what God has done.

Though knowing these things may lead to justifying ill behavior and the like, Spirit-controllev. It has convicting chapters for this SangMel, but it has very practical instructions on how to be filled by the Spirit and freed from my hang-ups.
Remember that no one temperament is better that another. In fact, I recommend giving this book, plus Gary Chapman’s book, as wedding presents to every bride and groom.
